The Massacre That Wasn’t

June 18, 2008

With the dismissal of charges against Lt. Col. Chessani, all but one of the Marines charged in the so called Haditha Massacre have either been aquitted or had their charges dismissed. The last one, Sgt. Frank Wuterich, is awaiting trial.

Where’s John Murtha?

And what about Time Magazine and Tim McGirk, where are they now?

Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz

June 17, 2008

The Manny Pacquiao – David Diaz fight is coming up soon,  June 28 to be exact. In my mind, there is a damn good chance that this will turn out to be a great fight. I think Pacquiao is heavily favored in the betting, but you can’t really count Diaz out, as he’s a skilled boxer and tough as nails.

It will be interesting to see if the heavy-hitting “Pacman” can knockout Diaz, who’s only been stopped once in his career. It looks to be an exciting fight, and I’m really looking forward to this one!

Blog Posts I Liked

June 16, 2008

I’ve read tons of interesting stuff just going through some of the blogs here on wordpress.com. So much good writing on so many different subjects. Anyway, here are three I saw tonight that I enjoyed.

10 Diseases Doctors Miss - A bit dangerous for quasi-hypochandriacs like myself, but very informative nonetheless.

Costa Rica Pics ~ As Promised - Pics of her trip to Costa Rica, including one of her with Charlie Sheen who was there on his honeymoon, lol.  I’m jealous…not about Charlie Sheen, but about going to Costa Rica

You can’t make a frittata without breaking some eggs- Well I didn’t really read it, cause I don’t cook. The title caught my eye. But anyway, visually I liked the post, the pictures are nice! Made me hungry though.

The Von Bulows

June 15, 2008

I just happened to catch Dominick Dunne’s Power, Privilege, and Justice on Tru TV, and it was about the famous Claus Von Bulow case. I was always fascinated with this case, as I usually am when it comes to notorious crimes and murders, but I hadn’t thought about the Von Bulows in a long time. The show was pretty interesting.

Sunny von Bulow is still in a coma 25 years later! She is 75 years old now. Dunne said that for the first 15 years, her two children made sure her hair and nails were done. He said they and her grandchildren still visit her.

Speaking of Movies

June 14, 2008

What the hell happened to them? I’m 43 years old, and at the risk of sounding like a real old-timer, talking about the good old days, I must say that generally speaking, movies used to be so much better. My wife and I hardly ever go to the movies anymore. If we do, we usually aren’t excited about it, it’s just something to do.

I think the last movie we were really “dying” to see was No Country for Old Men. But that was the exception to the rule. I think maybe six or seven years ago, and earlier, there was always something good to see. But in the past several years it seems that 95% of the movies that come out are garbage. Or is it just me?

The Happening – Crash and Burn

June 14, 2008

I haven’t seen it, but The Happening is getting horrible reviews. I suspected it wouldn’t be very good, as I don’t think Shyamalan has done anything all that great besides The Sixth Sense. But this one sounds like a real crapper.

On the other hand, The Incredible Hulk looks to be getting pretty good, though not spectacular, reviews. I’m not a big fan of the genre, so I doubt I’ll see this one. I’ll probably just sit here. ;-)

Paraskavedekatriaphobia

June 13, 2008

That’s the Fear of Friday the 13th, which is what today is. I think it’s a mutation of the word triskaidekaphobia, which is fear of the number 13. I don’t have either, as I’m not superstitious. But according to one article I read, 17 to 21 million people in the United States do have Paraskavedekatriaphobia!
